Some Bits Of Knowledge About The Swiss Army Backpack

Whenever people hear the Swiss Army brand, what immediately comes to mind is the famous Swiss Army knife, an all around pocket sized tool known for its quality and versatility. The Swiss Army backpack fortunately also has the same endearing features. The quality of the backpack comes second to none compared to many of the well known brands today. And versatility is top notch too as most of the Swiss Army backpack products have more than enough pockets for you to use.

Swiss Army Backpack – The Brand

swiss army backpackI was actually very curious about the Swiss Army backpack brand since it just popped up during when I was looking for a good backpack to buy. Just like what I wrote above, Swiss Army is mostly associated with pocket knives that house so many features, I never thought that the company behind Swiss Army also manufactures backpacks that embodies the same idea that their knives has. Well, I have seen Swiss Army luggage bags and backpacks being sold in shops before, but never this close to scrutinizing one.

The Swiss Army backpack products are manufactured by two companies that were once rivals in the Swiss Army knife business, Victorinox and Wenger. While these two companies have been in healthy competition with each other for a long time, Victorinox eventually acquired Wenger in 2005 to become the sole manufacturer operating with the Swiss Army brand. Well, we are still seeing Wenger backpacks being sold in stores nowadays, but it is fascinating to know that Victorinox and Wenger are one and the same.

Swiss Army Backpack – The Difference Between Victorinox And Wenger

If you are trying to look for an authentic Swiss Army backpack, it is important to know the differences between the backpack offerings of these two once rival brands. I did a bit of research into this and found out that Victorinox and Wenger really do have differences with regards to the backpacks they sell.

A Victorinox Swiss Army backpack is mostly for casual wear or light traveling and school use. I found that they offer a variety of laptop backpacks convenient enough to bring your laptop and other papers to the office and roomy enough to also bring books if you are to use it for school. While sturdy and tough, Victorinox backpacks seem to be not meant for heavy traveling and camping though. And for those activities, Wenger steps in to help.

A Wenger Swiss Army backpack seems to be more suited for the great outdoors. A trip to the Wenger website shows that they are only offering camping backpacks that can store enough clothing and provisions to last you for days in the wild. Just like Victorinox backpacks, Wenger backpacks are also obviously built to last. They were not made for the same purpose, but quality wise and company wise, they are both one and the same.

Swiss Army Backpack – About Swiss Gear

Swiss Gear backpacks look like any other Swiss Army backpack so I initially thought that it is another backpack manufacturer that contends with the two brands I mentioned above. Unfortunately, I stand wrong in this regard as Swiss Gear is actually a brand distributed by Wenger (which is acquired by Victorinox). As I do not see any other well known Swiss made backpack other than these three, so I guess the whole Swiss Army backpack business is really just manufactured under the same company roof.

Swiss Gear backpacks look like the laptop backpack arm of Wenger as I saw a good range of stylish backpacks in their online shop. Even so, it is very much commendable that the quality and versatility of any Swiss Army backpack does not falter even with the absence of competition. As seen through countless reviews, this backpack brand firmly holds its own against more famous backpack brands.
